The short version
We collect what an identity-verified signature needs and nothing beyond it. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use faces or ID documents to train anything.
What we collect
- Your email address, because that is how a document reaches you.
- A photograph of a government photo ID, and a short video of your face taken by your device.
- What the check decided: the kind of document, whether the live face matched, and how well.
- The signature itself: the name you typed, the date you chose, when it happened, and the fingerprint of the exact document.
- Ordinary service records: request logs, and payment records held by Stripe.
What we keep, and for how long
The ID photograph and the camera frames are deleted after 30 days, unless a person had to review them, in which case they are deleted once the review is closed. The decision and the scores stay with the signature.
A completed identity check is remembered for 36 months so that you are not asked to prove yourself again for every document. Signed documents and their signature records are kept while the account that raised them exists, because they are the evidence the signature rests on.
Who else sees it
- Amazon Web Services, which runs the platform, and whose Rekognition and Textract services perform the face match and read the ID. Data stays in Canada and the United States.
- Resend, which delivers our email.
- Stripe, which takes payment. Card numbers never reach us.
- The organisation that asked you to sign, which sees your name, your address, the signature and what the identity check decided — never the images.
Nobody else, unless a court requires it or you ask us to.
What you can ask for
A copy of what we hold about you, a correction, or deletion. Deletion covers everything except signatures already made and the records behind them, which we keep because other people rely on them. Write to the address below and we answer within 30 days.
Children
Nobody under 18 is verified here. Where a document concerns a child, a parent or guardian signs, and what we hold about the child is the name and date of birth that guardian gave us.
